Re: Toon firmware - update script

A few users already updated from older versions than that. Please remember that the update script is only a script on top of the official script from the eneco servers. It only prepares your toon so some necessary files/settings from a rooted toon won't be overwritten. The update magic is really done by the eneco script itself.

You better post the complete log. From the update script output and the logs from the eneco update script itself.

Since I have upgraded my Toon to last version it seems crashing /completely locking down (automatic restarting every day) , is this then related to memory full or to much apps ?
Can someone help me to check file / correct config as I had no issues before ?
thx in advance

I just tried to update my Toon, from version 4.11.6 to 4.19.10 with script version 3.07. After doing it, toonstore and my apps are gone.
Tried to search for comparable problems in this topic, but the half of the pages I can't reach...

I still have access by putty.. After upgrade I was able to open Passwd file and iptables.conf and they look the same as before the update.
There was an error during downloading toonstore and resources.rcc. Is this the problem?

Code: Select all

Everything done! You should reboot now! But before that take some time to check if your /etc/passwd file is still valid (contains encrypted password for user root) and if /etc/default/iptables.conf is not blocking SSH access.

Re: Toon firmware - update script

Postby Toonz » Sat Sep 29, 2018 8:47 pm

You need the resource file to get the custom apps working. The domoticaforum.eu website is not so stable recently.
You can manually download the resource file for your firmware (see the resource file topic).
You should be fine then....

ToonStore can be updated from the ToonStore itself, if you do not have the ToonStore yet , download the ipk file from the forum (2.0.1 is he latest).

Thanks for your answer.
That's the problem indeed. Toon can not download the files from domoticaforum..
I will try to download and install the programs separately.

Also when I ping www.domoticaforum.eu it is not working, every other site is working..

Yes, see:
FIXING: Downloading resources.rcc TSC mod for this version 4.19.10.
Could not download a resources.rcc file for this version! Continuing, but your custom apps probably dont work anymore

Due to problems with the forum being down for time to time the update script couldnt download the resource file. Do it manually or rerun the update script with -f option

How many apps do you have installed?
Can you monitor the memory usage of the Toon?

9 is a bit much tho, especially for the memory of 128mb the Toon1 has.

Just now I haved published a new release 3.2.0 of the update script with two important changes:
- it now downloads modded resource files from another location http://qutility.nl/resourcefiles (which allows much easier development of new mods towards the resource files)
- it downloads and installs the tsc helper script which helps the TSC settings menu (added in the mods) to run commands like 'check for new TSC update', 'flush firewall rules' etc

The TSC settings menu source can be seen at https://github.com/IgorYbema/tscSettings
If you are interested to add stuff to the tsc menu, please join and send in your pull requests for your addons.

Hi,

Really impressed by all the work done by you guys (And especially you for rooting my Toon2 :) )

One thing I'm wondering, when I'm already on the latest release, the script doesn't allow me to apply these updated modded resource files. Would it be possible to have an option to just apply the mods, even when one is already on the most current release?

Eh, found it's the -f option :-S

Maybe an idea to add a little help text when using -h or -h ?

Usage is already in the README :-)

But every help is welcome so if you know a bit in bash scripting just make your changes and git pull me those
