OTGW as Boiler Emulator

Post by xol »

Hello.
I plan to develop an OpenTherm to Modbus gateway. Is there a way to use OTGW as a boiler emulator for that purpose?
My concerns are:
1. Proper power supply. How should I power OTGW to let it operate as power source for the Thermostat (Modbus gateway in my case)
2. Firmware to run as boiler simulator. Is there anything ready for that?

Thanks.

You can use the interface firmware to simulate a boiler with the OTGW.
  1. No special power supply is needed. With the normal power supply, the OTGW can supply all of the power levels defined by the Opentherm specs.
  2. In addition to the interface firmware, you'll need some software. I don't know of any that has been made available for others to use. I have made my own simple script for testing new firmware for the OTGW without actually messing with the heating. But that is not fit for publication.
Please share your progress. It sounds like an interesting project.
