Gas monitoring Bwired

Post by Bwired »

Explanation of the real time gas monitoring in the bwired house.

My meter from the gas company has on the last digit a small reflecting part of 3 by 3 millimeter.

Image

This reflecting surface is located in the middle of the digit six, so every time the digit six comes around I have used 0.010 m³ Gas. I used a CNY70 light reflecting sensor to measure every time the six comes around.

(not in schema 741 power - on pin 4 and + on pin 7)
The above CNY70 schematics is generating a pulse every time the SIX digit comes around, is connected by the BC547 to the Dallas One Wire Counter (TAI8585) who collects all the pulse counts (just experiment a bit with 1K resistor). A Visual Basic program reads all the data from the Dallas One Wire Devices and writes the data to a MySQL Server!

Hi Pieter,

Question about your schematics. It the output of the 741 directly connected to your counter? reading the DS2423 spec sheet it should be something with an open drain.

Regards,
Willem.

Hi Willem,
You are right, I forgot the BC547 ect which is connecting the 741 output to the 1-wire counter. I added an extra schematic drawing to the topic above. Hope this helps.

Perfect! Can I suggest you enhance your how it is done section for the gasmeter, i.e. when you click on the meter a windows pops-up (like electricity meter section how it is done) showing the schematic etc.

Cheers, Willem.

Gas monitoring Bwired

i've found an application note for the CNY70,it uses a normal transistor. I'm getting the components tomorrow (hopefully). I think the most difficult part here is the position the CNY70 in front of the reflecting digit. Will let you know once it is up and running.

EDIT: May take some time ....

Gas monitoring Bwired

Hi, i have a question, i make the circuit velleman for gas counter, but it's read only a IR led.
If i put a remote control near the led it's count.
If i put the led near a reflecting surface it does not count.

I need to add a IR led to use a reflecting surface for gas?

Thanks.

Thats right, you need the CNY70 for this and other schematics. The CNY70 is sending a light beam which will be received back once the reflecting surface is passing along.
The rfxmeter can use the CNY70 as well, this device can be used for Power, Gas and Water.

Yes ;)
