Nice, I find the Shuttle design nicer than the Asus.... hmmmm

It consists of the new DUAL core atom (330) while i think that Asus is an atom single core (n270). good that !

Looks very good. No plugs sticking out on the back, it looks thinner than the Asus. Same screen resolution.

Got one of them last Friday, the one without OS (X50XA), very annoying to see a big price drop just after that, [}:)] but hey it costs extra if you want to have spiffy new gadgets...

And I'm pleased with it.

Windows 7 RC runs, you need to install the Touchscreen and Audio Vista drivers from the cd, not sure if all other drivers are latest/optimal.

But I wanted to run a free OS on it anyway.
Sadly I had a very hard time to get Linux running on it... took me days to find out what to do. (and nothing to find in google about this product and Linux yet)

But I have managed to get most working, only some work to do on getting the touchscreen to work (is a often used USB eGalaxy/Touchkit compatible one) the official driver is for Xorg version 1.4.0, and I need 1.6.0.

There is also another (open-source) touchscreen driver for this device, which I still need to compile, so I'm confident this is going to work.

And the Mic input gives static (Intel HD Audio) also a matter of some more time/tweaks.

Running Ubuntu Jaunty now, including Gambas 2.13. [8)]

Sound, WLAN, LAN, Webcam, Intel accelerated VGA etc is working ok.
But you need to install the very latest experimental Xorg intel driver (from 8 may or newer)

You need to boot in F4 Low graphics mode when installing (so it uses the vesa driver) after install you add

deb http://ppa.launchpad.net/ubuntu-x-swat/x-updates/ubuntu jaunty main

to /etc/apt/sources.list and update to get the experimental (but working) intel driver.

You have the wrong (unsorted) list, you can have one for much less!

Use this one, I have paid too much, my shop isn't even in the top 6, but that was due to my own impatience/ignorance. [:o)]

How is it doing noise/power wise?
(they say 22dB, 30watts..)

Does it have digital audio out? (maybe the line out is also an optical out?)
It could be a nice homecontrol gui + audio player.

The power usage with Ubuntu Jaunty running varies between 31 and 38 watt (31 with screen blanked, 38 with a benchmark running) Didn't check ACPI settings etc or played with suspend etc.

Don't expect kickass video performance, it has a simple onboard graphics chip.
Haven't done any descent benchmarking/tweaking yet.

My screen has one stuck pixel (red), not very noticable, no issue for me.

Sometimes I hear the fan, it looks like its making a little bit more noise than it should if you look at the speed its running (slow).
Couldn't get lm-sensors to detect the sensors yet, so have no idea how hot the chips get and/or how many rpms the fan runs.

Thanks Ron, 329 ex VAT is not bad. Even available in black.

Curious how it performs compared to the single Atom of the EEE TOP. I am running aginst limits with my Asus when streaming from the server to my airport express.
