RFXCOM Reciever And Homeseer

Post by paulb »

Sorry if i'm missing something here but totally new to the world of home automation. Anyway i downloaded a trial version of homeseer for 30 days and i wanted to get the program to talk to the rfxcom reciever. Do i have to install a plug in or something ? Its a little confusing because under the list in intafaces it gives rfxcom as a option free to try or 39 something or other. As i am just trying homeseer on a 30 day trial i don't really want to be paying out for a plug in to talk to the device unless i decide to buy the program.

I have the eralier version of owl been transmited which i can pick up using the free demo program but wanted to play around with something a bit more chunky. If i like the feel of home automation then of course i will be looking to buy possibly homeseer and a transmitter and maybe some x10 devices.

Can anyone help get me started ? i can't pm anyone on here but can me contacted on pdbulmer at hotmail dot com

You will need a plug-in to interface the RFXCOM receiver to Homeseer.

If you have the trial version of Homeseer then you can download the plug-in from the homeseer updater and it will install as a 30 day trial.

What type of RFXCOM receiver do you have, USB or LAN / WLAN ?

I see you are in the UK. What area? If you want I can let you log into my Homeseer system and have a look at what the RFXCOM plug-in is doing here.

Hey paul,

You need to check the updater in homeseer (in your web browser )

Login to homeseer with your web browser, and press tools button >> updater >> and click Next

Homeseer wil go online and fetch you a list of available plugins ( can take some secs )

now scroll down to the rfx plugin and install it.

Next reboot homeseer and the plugin should be there.

Take care.

Strange that you can't install it as a trial. Most paid-for Homeseer plug-ins can be installed for a 30 day trial period from the updater.

I'm just south of Selby, so not so far away from York. Send me an email to "paul dot huddlestone at gmail dot com" and I will give you some logon details and a bit of guidance on RFXCOM etc..
