Looking for devices with Network ports

Post by DJF3 »

Hi,

As I love domotica and networking I'm always looking for more ethernet devices. (even better if it has Power over Ethernet).

Here's a few:
-OnTime Ethernet (PoE powered!) clock: http://www.dspdesign.com/products/produ ... uct_id=121
-RFXCOM Ethernet transmitters/receivers: http://www.rfxcom.com/
-Visonic PowerMax+ with PowerLink (Ethernet interface) http://www.visonic.com/VisonicHomePage. ... enDocument

If you have cool Ethernet (wired/wireless) toys, please list them here!
Cheers

Looking for devices with Network ports

Ha; Me too! This is the network-enabled equipment I currently have installed:<ul><li>3Com SuperStack III 10/100baseT 19" switch, unfortunatly no PoE.</li><li>Thecus N5200Pro NAS, 1000baseT.</li><li>Dual PIII Xeon Windows 2003Server (will be replaced by PIII mobile based laptop).</li><li>Brotherl HL-4000CN color laserprinter with networkspooler.</li><li>Dell Optiplex 280SFF workstation.</li><li>PowerMac G4 'Grey&White' workstation.</li><li>Tektronix TLA704 Logic Analyzer/DSO.</li><li>Zilog eZ80 JTAG debugger.</li><li>4x Eizo eClient 640LN.</li><li>4x WebEye B101 video server, fully controllable PTZ cameras with their own webserver. SDK for external contols is available.</li><li>Windows MCE2005 MediaCenter.</li>
<li>InFocus LP-790 Beamer, fully controllable over Ethernet.</li><li>Philips FlatTV, can only play content, quite a disappointment.</li><li>Targa IP450 VoIP phone (PoE?).</li><li>Grandstream GPX-2000 VoIP phone (PoE).</li><li>LinkSys WAP54G WiFi access point (PoE).</li>
<li>Thomson SpeedTouch 516i ADSL modem (PoE?).</li></ul>
And this is what I still want:<ul><li>LinkSys SRW2024P switch (24 Ports, 10/100/1000Mbit, PoE).</li><li>SIP-X server on Linux on my VIA 1GHz solid state PC.</li><li>Network card for APC SmartUPS.</li></ul>
I also would love to have my projection screen and my espresso machine controlled over Ethernet, but I'm afraid I have to make something for that myself. It would be nice to have an Ethernet controller IR tranceiver to controll al AV equipment over ethernet. Any ideas?

BTW: Nice clock! Is it expensive?

<hr height="1" noshade id="quote"></font id="quote"></blockquote id="quote">I'm not sure what your definition of open system is ?

the server software (one common server for usb/lan/rs232 connected devices) is open source (c++) and supports both windows and linux ?
plugins for lots of automation systems are included...

see http://www.irtrans.de/en/technicalinfo/app.php

I use it in combination with girder on windows myself (usb+lan irtrans devices)

(and also contributed part of the Girder 5 plugin C++ source code and part of the windows server frontend source code)......

About the espresso machine, I have one: Jura F90
http://www.fairfax.jura.com/home_fairfa ... sa_f90.htm

<blockquote id="quote"><font size="1" face="Verdana, Arial, Helvetica" id="quote">quote:<hr height="1" noshade id="quote">• With the Internet Connectivity Kit your IMPRESSA F90 can communicate with your PC and the Internet.

• You can download your favorite coffee recipes from the Internet and upload them on your machine.

• You can check the status of your machine at any time. In this way you can provide the JURA service staff with important information so that they can help you with any problems.
The true benefits of this system: With this kit it can save you inconvieniance if a fault does occur in your machine, say for instance thier is a simple problem but you dont know what it is, you would have to have it sent to the Jura service centre to be looked at, but with this kit all you do is connect it up and the machine will download a tech status report to your computer which either you can read to find out where the fault lies and fix it if it is a simple thing, or you can email that report to the Jura Service centre and they will use more technical data to diagnos the problem without the machine having to leave, if it then does need to be brought in to be fixed it can be or it may be a simple adjustment and you are up and running without any inconviniance.

Whats cool. The best bit which will impress anyone when making them a coffee is you can using the software supplied with the kit design your own finely tuned espresso drink setting, you can set the exact millileter of liquid and the amount of coffee used. The best bit is you can name your drink, so say if you are celebrating a birthday with a espresso you could name it Birthday Brew! you then transfere the new drink into the machines memory and then when you press the special drink button it will display Birthday Brew! in the display. You can also change the greeting message when you switch the machine on so it could say ' Welcome to Dave & Sue's Espresso Machine'. All very cool."<hr height="1" noshade id="quote"></font id="quote"></blockquote id="quote">This is a nice start, but I actually do not really use it.. The next machine needs a built in ethernet port ;-)
About the Clock, it's $295.. Pretty sure you should be able to get them cheaper.

Other Ethernet device I use:

- Cisco IP phones (models: 7961, 7970)
http://www.cisco.com/en/US/products/hw/ ... index.html
I use these phones to control the lights as they have an excellent XML interface that's really easy. The 7970 has a touchscreen which makes it even nicer to control ;-)

- KiSS DP-558 http://www.kiss-technology.com/?p=558
I can use this PVR to control my lights as well. (Using built in KPML, which is some kind of 'xml')

- Nabaztag http://www.nabaztag.com/en/index.html
This is a pretty useless but very cool device ;-)

- Axis 2401 video server http://www.axis.com/products/cam_2401/

- Networking: Cisco 3750 PoE switch and router both with PoE ports and PoE Accesspoints.

bye
