Controlling central heating (HVAC) through X-10

Mindbender,

You are always talking about the Celcia 20 controller. In my setup I have a Quinta 45 working with a Rematic controller. They also communicate via Opentherm.
Would that also work with the Gateway?

@spierie
A setup with Quinta45 and a Rematic controller is an investment in Remeha products that would make me call the helpdesk of Remeha in Apeldoorn if I would have any questions that could make me buy even more of their [good] stuff.

hi guys,

Does sombody now if the interface from remeha is working on a ecomline boiler from Nefit.
I am looking for time now for a way to montor the commnication between de "moduline 30" thermostat and the "ecomline boiler".

Ok, just to throw another one in. I'm just working on replacing the heating and boiler with a daalderop HR Combifort 32/80+ since there are not so much devices that can continuosly provide >20liter hot water for a long period of time (without having a huge boiler inside). It is also one of the few devices with an extra haeting circuit for the bathroom so your bathroom('s) is warm even if the rest of the house is not. It is supporting the opentherm protocol and you could use the chronotherm vision/modulation on it.
Is there any chance it will work with the remeha gateway solution?

Edwin (and others),
Nice to see you all like to use that Gateway, but I have not read here for what function precisely ...
I dived into this Opentherm stuff because I happen to have installed an Avanta boiler and Celcia20 room controller and quickly decided I wanted to be able to see the real outside temperature rather than those 4 dashes. My own version of a gateway, based on a microcontroller, is operational for some months now; the temperature sensor is connected to the gateway and when the Celcia20 requests the outside temperature from the boiler, the gateway does not pass on the response from the boiler but instead injects a frame containing the temperature, thus answering the request from the Celcia20. The Celcia20 is really the master in an Opentherm environment and the gateway must "behave itself" and only speak when it really knows better than the boiler.
So, it depends on the functionality of the master (=room controller!) and the slave (=boiler) whether the gateway can do anything useful in your particular case.
The Celcia20 does e.g. also ask for a possible Remote Room Temperature Setting. Maybe that's what you want too? If the gateway lets such request/response pass unchanged the Remote Room Setting functionality of the room controller won't work. However, when the gateway has been told, e.g. via a modem link, that the room temp should go to 25 ;-) the gateway will alter the response from the boiler and answer the Celcia20 of the desired temp. that will override the local programming. That particular function happens to be one that I'm experimenting with now.
I hope this write-up is useful for you.

Few kits for central heating control: http://x10modules.com/shop/default.php?cPath=1_41
They offer Danfoss thermal actuator which is made for 230 V supply in both normally closed (NC) or normally open (NO) versions. I bought the kit with NC type actuators and it works perfect. It is possible to adapt the thermostatic valve on most radiators without having to call the plumber.
