simply to add a "fake start" of ctx35 in HS file startup.txt, i add :

<br />Andro, Does the problem still show if you type commands to the CTX directly, using TeraTerm (or Hyperterm, if you have to)? The CTX offers the great advantage of a human-readable protocol, unlike the CM11. just download the manual and start typing away!

Be careful with these USB-to-serial converter: They have given me a head ache too. Including the one built-into the PMIX35.

Paul, You're welcome. you can find many post in this forum about serial servers. I was very interested about this one from ANTRATEK (NL)
http://www.antratek.com/Sollae.html
EZL-200F Ethernet-RS232 converter (in housing) 69,00 .

But then i bought TIBBO http://www.tibbo.com/ , because i found it in Italy. tibbo is really an allround product with tons of settings
cheers, Lorenzo.

Sorry for kicking this one again, but I have found the problem.

Today I did an upgrade of the homeseer drivers and after that my CM15 seized to work. So I pulled out the CTX again. And again the same error that some appliances cannot be reached. This time I have found what kind of switches can't be reached namely the x-10 lamp modules (plug in socket). The appliance modules can be reached no problem, but apparently the CTX interface (driver) has a problem with lamp modules. So I replaced them and all works fine now

Funny to read about problems with CTX35 and USB serial converters on windows.

It works fine and 100% reliable using a USB-serial cable on my Linux box this way.

So I think it should be no issue on Windows.

I don't think it has anything to do with the serial-usb converter. Somehow the CTX doesn't work correctly with marmitek light switches and only the light switches. If I put an appliance switch in exactly the same socket the signal is received, but if I use a light switch the signal doesn't get converted. They both receive the same X10 signal (e.g. A1 ON).

My guess is that the CTX sends out a slightly different X10 signal which is interpreted correctly by the appliance switch and not by the light switch. Maybe the light switch expects a different signal or the appliance switch is less picky. Another option is that Xanura's A10 protocol is not completely compatible with X10 and there are differences.
