Measuring/logging room temperatures
Measuring/logging room temperatures
Hi all,
I'd like to measure the different room temperatures (3-4) in my house and preferably log the temperatures throughout the day on my pc. It would also be nice if you can just read the temperature from the sensors also.
Is there an easy not too costly solution for this?
Thanks in advance,
Don

Oregon Scientific sensors and a RFXCOM Receiver; search this forum for those items. Don't know anything about Arixx.

Arixx is only Temp, Oregon has also Humidity, solar radiation, Barometric pressure etc. And Rfxcom supports also X10, Kaku and so on!

Maybe, but that extra functionality will probably add to the costs. Humidity would be nice, and that's also possible with Arexx. The only thing is that it has a 0.5 degree variation.

As far as costs go:
RFXcom 433 USB receiver 115.43
Oregon Temp sensor (with no LCD display) 10 euros a piece.
Oregon Temp sensor (with LCD on each sensor) 29.90 euros a piece.
Oregon Temp=Humidity (with LCD) +/-35 euros a piece.
Total costs:
-Without LCD: 155.43eur + 19.50 porto
-With LCD: 235.03eur + 19.50 porto
-With LCD+Humidity: 255.43eur + 19.50 porto
Of course you'll also need software to do something with the data on the computer if you don't already have that. There is plenty of info about all this on the forum.

Vergeet niet dat je ook nog software nodig hebt op je PC. Die moet je of zelf schrijven of via zoiets als xAP e.d. doen of Homeseer met RFXCOM Processor Plug-In kopen.

Without software RFXcom is still a lot more expensive than the Arexx proposition. Can I use the RFXcom for other home automation purposes also? Like switching on the lights on the stairs when motion is detected at night?

Just look at http://www.rfxcom.com , there you can find all the answers to your questions. Also this forum contains lots of info about RFXCOM products.
