I am working on exctly the same thing at the moment Thanks for the pics, looks solid. I have onyl found that my mailbox lid, not always comes back in the lowest position. Does your one have a spring?

Hello,
I have found til now no trouble
The lid is always coming back in the lowest position
The only thing I have done is the hinge (scharnier) lubricated
With Vaseline

FInshed the job today. Decided to put the reedcontact on the top side to avoid the mail touching it. My magnet was also a bit too strong and had to place it a bit away to make it switch off the contact. And indeed a bit of W40 spray solved the movement troubles. Next is a new icon for new (snail) mail.
