UM7206 reponding on other device

Post by Herbus »

I have an UM7206 (http://www.marmitek.com/nl/catalogus/pr ... product=27) that's responding on the switch of an other device. When I switch a nearby lamp (normal switch, no X10-device!), the UM7206 is sometimes accidentally switching.
It seems that it’s responding on power ON/OFF switching of an other 220V/AC device (in this case a lamp). Does anybody knows the cause or better: a solution?

I need a A10/X10 device with a (“potentiaal vrij”) contact. Are there alternative A10/X10 devices?

Thanks for your help and suggestions……

What are your settings ? Continuos or momentary ? did you try to change the wall outlet?

It's switching continuous. So when I give a X10 command ON it’s ON, when I give a command OFF it stays OFF.
In other outlets it’s acting the same way and is responding on other switching devices.

If you change housecode , does it react anyway?

Changing the housecode doesn't solve the problem.

I agree with Ed, if out of range (housecode changed) it should never react.Ciao !

Just installed a new UM7206. Same problem. Switching the light switch nearby (1,5 mtrs) causes the UM7206 to switch itself.
Looks like the switch is putting a spike (noise) on the powerline.

Does anybody now a way to filter this noise (anti noise capacitor???)

Thanks,

Jos

For the 'potentiaal vrij' solution, what would yu have to buy?

Use an on/off X10 actor and add a 230V relay to it ...... you may have to increase the load with a resistor or so .... or alternative use a transfomer and add a low voltage relay

Did some Googling on this subject.

The "spike" (noise) is caused by the switch. It seems that the UM7206 is sensitive for this.
Solution sould be found in using a Snubber: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Snubber

Conrad has a combined component (resistor + capacitor) for this: http://www2.conrad.nl/goto.php?artikel=452335

Gonna order a couple of these and will test if this is a solution.

Hi Herbus,

I Have the same issue with an UM7206, I use it to open a gate. It shares its powersupply with the controlunit for the motors, Sometimes when i close or open the gate my UM switches, without asking. The weird thng is taht only the relay switches, but the beeper not. I can switch it off and on by my x10 controler without problems.

Do you have the solutiom? Filtering? Does the snubber solves your issue? If so please let me know

Thanks

Hi,
Yes, the snubber from Conrad solved my problem. No problems at all after installing this simple device in the switches.

Pfff I don't remember. I think they are mounted over the contact from the switch. Please search internet, because I'm not sure. Or order an extra couple :-)
