NAS Synology with IP-Cams

Post by Verkenner »

Bought a Synology NAS DS211J.
Bwired advised it, so it was an expensive one

But it's a very nice machine with 2 harddrives from 2 Terra each. Never full !

Did anybody connect IP-cams to the Synology NAS?
Like to hear that.

Hello,

We have 6 ipcams running on the Synology NAS
We use them for Surveillance on my work
For every cam you need a license pack .
Everything is working fine , the cams are from Axis

I'm about to use it. I have an Axis and a Mobotix cam. I had to buy a license for 4 cameras, only the first one is free. I haven't had the time to correctly configure the Mobotix yet, but so far I noticed the Synology does not reconnect after I looked at the Mobotix webpage. So I'm not so sure how I will set it up:

1) Connect it to the Synology and let the Synology do the movement detection (creates situation above)
2) Let the Mobotix do the detection and FTP the movement vids over to the Synology for access by the cam app

I haven't looked at connecting the Axis yet as it is not set up yet.

I have a cheap NAS Conceptronic (2 TB 149 euros) and two cameras from Foscam. I ftp to the NAS and all to my Gmail.
Although not motion pictures but this is enough.

And Synology comes from the QNAP factory. For Synology you need licenses for the cams (first one free). Not with QNap (support max 4 and no license).

I'm about to get a new NAS.
Can the DS211J also be configured to use NZB files and download from newsgroups (NNTP)?
