Sonar

Post by steve2xyz »

I've got one of these robot-electronics.co.uk/acatalog/Ultras ... ngers.html abd I've put it on a pan-tilt camera connected though a PIC to my system.

It works just fine, I'm just not quite sure what to do with it now - if I can't think of anything, I'll just add some more different sensors!

Looks like fun.
What size of objects can it follow / does it react to?

I've got a lot of cat's (from nabors) in the garden that I would love to spray with water when they are close to a sensor.

If you want to deal with cats (or fish eating birds like a 'reiger') then here''s a finished solution

shop4home.nl/index.php?main_page=produc ... cts_id=375

This is just an example. If you look further then you can find these cheaper.
There alre also other and cheaper brands on the market that makes these things

I know about the scarecrow, but this is not an option here.
And.. the "spray with water" was only a "figure of speech"... It's something els that I want to aim at the cats
(think bee bee gun's)

It can certainly detect the reflection from something 1cm x 1cm at a distance of over a metre. The maximum distance I've seen so far is just under 4 metres. I'm currently doing a sonar ping every four seconds but I could do it a lot more often; the device needs 65ms to perform a ranging.

Thats nice.. How fast is the "pan-tilt" to go to the "pinged" position?
