new guy questions

Post by jumper »

Hello,
I wonder who can help me with 'hint and tips'
I want to build a kind of logger for temperature, energy, windspeed and direction and special switches(detection devices). also an (web)cam for screenshots of daily weather
A kind of bwired.nl site it self. So that can read from site.
-Is it possible with home made schematic ?
-What to suggest?
-As cheap as possible
-I've seen about 'Asus 500g' as a kind of webserver? So that the computer itself doesn't have to run day and night.
-Which programming language to suggest? Or something easy to use?
-Which port to use as communication, or will it be a device to plug in ?

I Hope i'm allowed to ask this as a new. I've seen a lot here, but it is too difficult to compare actually.
greeting

Hello,

About Domotica nothing. I've seen a lot. But it must be done too.
i know the basics from electronics. I'm not an expert.
Few years ago i've learned some script languages. Like Visual basic (6) but i can use .net now too, C++
for pic, i used picbasic and tried asm too.
Its not easy to say, but we'll were beginnenrs. Right ?

But it looks like no life here ?
I was hoping someone could tell me what advise for setting up a site like bwired ...

greetings,
Bwired

Hi Jumper,

Please check the forum and the sites of the top members, there is so much information and almost everything is hanled already.
Reason why most member dont answer on this kind of question is that it asked multiple times :)
I know its hard to find all the stuff on the forum, that is the downside of a forum.....

i'll give it up, i don't understand nothing of this all to what i want to realise. There's always something 'extra' needed to get it.

Too bad for me.
Me is going to the other way.
I gonna try to connect Velleman K8061 to my computer with plugin and use homeseer software.

I still have to figure out to get a clear website and how to get a webcam view into it.
