Off-the-shelf light intensity and colour sensors?

Post by aforautomate »

Hi there,

Does anyone know of any off-the-shelf X10 light intensity sensors or colour sensors? From what Google tells me, I'll probably have to build by own, but I'll be glad if you can tell me otherwise :)

Thanks for the help.

The X10 motion sensor MS13 will tell you roughly when it's dusk or dawn but that's about it as far as I know. You are probably going to have to make your own.

The MS13 can send motion messages either 24h/day or when it's 'dark'. It won't tell you IF it's dark or when it's dark.

All five of my MS13s send an X10 off at dawn and on at dusk!

Steve is right; a MS13 can send ON and OFF on Motion Address+1 IIRC. It's all in the manual.

Thanks for getting back to me. I actually already have some of those but I am looking for something with a finer granularity than binary data. I want to detect lights on and lights off events and a binary sensor is only useful for that, at most, at nighttime. I guess I'll have to get building...

Thanks again.

Just a wild thought.
Get a temprature sensor like the oregon and replace the temp. pickup element for a LDR.
