Pieter, you could always use a RGB led lamp, and match exactly the color you want! :D

I know but a bit overkill for the garagedoor :-) When the prices get really low I replace all outside led lights with RGB leds and start a real lightshow, that would be fun! [:D]

I must say that I like the thought of being able to angle the spots sold by klemko.

So that would be this combination:

I'm going to have a look around, because maybe I want rectangular groundspots...

Do you know the pricerange of the products above?

Hi Eric,

The Klemko Luxor leds are EUR 30,- to 35,- each for the warm white version (most people prefer warm white). The IP67 enclosure is EUR 45,- to 55,- each. My wholesale supplier is currently having these items on sale @ EUR 25,88 and EUR 38,68 including VAT (but they do not deliver to private persons, only companies).

Lennart, with so many people interested in "your" stuff, maybe you should open a selling website! :)

Backbraking work this weekend. All the old tiles were removed.. Hard labour.
Happily all the ground-moving was done by a friend with a bobcat, 17 kubic meters of dark-sand was replaces by white sand.

All the spots are deliverd nicely (Thanks Lennart)

I'm going to digg the trenches for the powercables this week, cause saturday we are going to place the new tiles...

Will do!

I succesfully tried dimming the LED in a small test...

Now I have to figure out what cable to use for under the ground to link the leds to eachother and the driver.

Any suggestions? I think a thick garden-cable will be overkill because the leds themselves only use very thin wire...

@Lennart: In the picture in my previous post uyou can see the little white connector block between the driver and the led. In the manual a picture is shown that linking the leds serial, every between every led suck a white block can be used. But I got only two (one with each driver) Are these thingys sold seperately by klemko, ore are they universal and can they be bought at an electronics store?

Hi Eric,

Great to hear the leds were delivered in good condition and your test succeeded!

As far as the cable is concerned: for a cheap solution, get 16mm flex tube for indoor 230V cabling and use cheap (but not too thin) loudspeaker cables for wiring (1 mm^2 should do the trick). The flex tube will do fine if buried under the ground and protects the cabling from water, insects and the like. It's readily available, easy to work with and doesn't cost a dime. Of course, flex tube would definitely not be an option for in ground outdoor 230V applications, but for this kind of low voltage situation, it will probably do just fine.

Note that you'd probably still need to think of a solution for protecting the connection between led-wires and the in-ground cable? Or is this connection made inside the ground spot housing? If the connection needs to be made outside of the housing, consider getting these small connection boxes that come with a two component epoxy based chemical to completely fill and seal the connection box. (But that's not a very cheap solution.)

Hi Eric,

The connectors are sold seperately by Klemko, although the parts are probably also available from electronics/hobby shops. I didn't mention them, because I figured you'd probably wanted/needed to use some other cabling for the in-ground part (the standard cabling is too thin for long runs and too short for getting from your shed to the spots anyway), and cutting off the connectors and using standard "kroonsteentjes" will do fine as well and is more flexible (you need to waterproof it anyway, as mentioned in my previous post).

Connecting the leds without these connectors is just a matter of serializing the leds: red wire from the driver goes to red wire of led one, black wire of led 1 goes to red wire of led 2, etc, black wire of final led in a string goes to black wire of the driver. Et voila.

However, if you really need them, I could order some of these.

Hi Lennart,

I was thinking in a similar direction with the flextube...

The connections could be made inside the housing, there are two "entries" for cables in them, so one for the wiring coming in and one for the wiring going out to the next spot. These entries are at the bottom og the housing, and sealed with rubber, so I assume it will be waterproof.

Any idea about the little white connector blocks?
