Good News, since my second (spare) one arrived this week :-)
You can get them now for 100 euro including shipping here.
Overall still very happy with the system.

Thanks for the info.

Its the little improved version where the antenna has a better support. My old one is still hanging in tape...
Disappointing still with an old style adapter.

Nice to see that these kind of solutions are also handled on the domoticaforum. I stil want to by one but i want to use a strict entrance/exit policy. We have 5 cats but only 3 are allowed the exit the house. Now i have seen that the petporte has a free exit i will be having an issue with it

Maybe placing one of there will be a solution to see if a kat is leaving the building and wich on it is

http://www.rfidwebshop.nl/product/5/chi ... catie.html (Although i think it could get cheaper)

A solution for me would be to use 2 cat flaps one on the inside out en one on the outside in connected with al long tube of 150mm2

Found this posting about the petporte

You can solve your exit policy by buying 2 flaps and mount them back to back. This way you can control incoming and outgoing traffic ;-)
Its a bit more expensive but it will do the trick.

Another solution would be to build it yourself. Its much cheaper than buying a PetPorte and you can make an interface directly to your ha software.

Hmm.... Sounds like a nice challenge.

In/out check with two flaps will work but you need to set the timing for the outgoing flap very short. I have neighbouring cats chasing my ones and they sometimes make it into the house if they follow close enough.
Some of my cats like to sit in front of it and hesitate to go out for a while, this would trigger the system and with a very short interval time, lock them in too.
ALso make sure it is fixed very well, one of my cats does not accept it, if I close it and pulled almost the whole thing in pieces....

I don't need to restrict my cats but want to know if they come in or out. For that I have an optical proximity sensor (IR-Led and photocell in one housing) that I will mount on the end of the tunnel. Then check what gets triggered first to determine the direction.
At the moment we also have a 'catcam' that triggers on movement and sends an email with two pictures + recording of 2 secs of the movement.
Now we know who is in or out and who brought in the mouse or moll :-)

According to his demo video, it's already working with version 0.9.0.
respekt-empire.de/CatFlap/trac/wiki/Dem ... /DemoVideo
You can see that when the cat enters, the green lock opens and it generates an output on the rs232 interface which can be seen on the monitor.
I tried to contact him through his site to ask about the implemented features in the software, compared to the original software.

And here is his answer:
Hi Darwusch,

Version 0.90 is the first beta release. I've implemented almost all features of the original firmware (at least I think so), except the "open mode", the "child lock" because I don’t need it, and some power saving features. My biggest concern is currently testing the reliability of detection of different chips. I only have 2 cats (or two chips) to test, so I'm looking for beta testers. Also you should be clear that after modifying the firmware there is no return to the old version. For testing purposes I use a second cat flap with defective mechanics (from ebay).

The additional features to the original firmware are mainly serial output:
- Cat is detected
- Undetected cat presses against door
- Flap is moved (and direction) if a poti is installed
- Power fail message
- Current status and configuration settings Also you can open the flap via a command on the serial port.

I'm currently documenting all the steps needed for the new firmware in the Trac wiki. (http://respekt-empire.de/CatFlap/trac)

Feel free to send me a mail or comment in the discussion forum:

Best regards

I ordered the pic programmer from ebay. When it is delivered I can beta test the software.

I think this would be nice to communicate with the PC:
