New Set up

I am completely new to Home automation but have an idea what I want to do, hopefully somebody can tell me if it is possible and point me in the right direction. I want to have a visual plan of my home that would act as a sort of alarm system along with doing the usual put lights on off etc. So my idea is to have a schematic of my house layout and when a door window opens/closes a notification will show on the screen in that particular area. At the moment i have a few Home easy bits and was thinking of buying a RFXtrx433 also for PIR door contacts I assume some house alarm option would be best. Is there any cheap/free software out there that would do what I am asking? AlsoI would be grateful for any advice in sourcing any parts needed along with how to go about getting set up.

For all different kind of devices, you have to make this yourself, otherwise check Homeseer Touch......
