I installed it yesterday for my installation with Rfxcom, Plugwise and ZWave. Not all ZWave devices are supported. Have to do some reading, but i can switch most devices and the sensors show their values in the log. I think it is promising. Maybe i can prevent upgrading from homeseer 2 to homeseer 3.

Dylantje. I see a lot of postst from you the last couple of weeks. Maybe I can give you some advise? I suggest you start with a less complicated setup. Or easier software. Linux programmes like you are aiming at now do the job. but reading all your posts i doubt if you are able to start with a setup which requires more advanced knowledge of linux etc. You are in the spot i was three years ago

I now homeseer, a windows program. It does the job, and gives a lot of challenges as it is. But because you run it in a windows evironment it feels more familliar. Yes, it costs money, but home automation costs money. But theres a large userbase here, on their website and the rest of the internet. They can help you.

Saying that there's one other advice. I'd treat home automation as a hobby. Take time, learn and invest time to learn. A lot of more users here are very willing to help you. But they often only help if they have the feeling you already did your research. So, take your time, read about the subject you're interested in. Try the search ;-). Then try out your findings or ask questions about the subject showing that you did research by giving info on where you are stuck.

I would love to help you on your way if you have questions about homeseer or my endeavour when starting home automation. You can ask them in dutch in the beginners area.

@ Phaeton,

Thanks for your replay, and sorry for bad Enlisch read and talk ar better.
I wil give you satus update.
I was from the nodo projct for 2-3 years, my first domoica.
I have a lot many spend to the hardware, bud it stil works not very good and stable, opensource is not there a few gothfathers.. [ my wife is killing me, for the money]
Wait a long time for a stable and good working version, en read all the wiki's that are not to geat when you have a half working system.

Make a choice quit whit nodo.
The best choice ever.!!!!

Then i read a lot of options, and discover a new world.
I buy a RPi ...A best choice.
I read a lot in servel fora, and ask a lot.

The choice was domotiga...
Not working to get in my RPi...

Then after reading a wile, pilight looks great.
Bad hardware, and to much developing.

I buy on advice from a lot of people a RXFcom, great stuff, only my wife is angry for that money...

I'am realy happy with the RFXCOM, only the software..
Homeseer is to much money, that i cannot spend on that software, what i will use for a few switches.
Then i read a lot about freware, opensource projects.
Realy i belive in open source and realy i am to old for Linux.
Only Linux brings me better stuff then windows ever soud do.
That is why my kids have to learn linux.

My last choice is Domoticz, a realy good choice, and perfect for my...

Only when i was searching for more info , is saw HAB.
And i think hab hase a lot of changes, that i hope i can make in the future.

The reason i search is that i was hoping that i after all this time [ that i do not have ] and money a system have wath is working.

And the most of all.
I have so match time spend to bad sotware, projects.[ like nodo and pilight, i have hardware for sale ]
That i hope and search now for a software and system where i cane spend my time to learn it, and have it stable for a wile
And that i do not have to buy more hardware and software.
Only i system that i can work with to a servel yaers, and not think abbout 2 years, shit i will this so i have to switch to ....

But i am breading... :D :D :D
And thats the importend thing..

I hope you understand my problem...

PS: in the beginners section are in my eyes the most answers open.
because a lot off pro's are saying, read google, search, and try..
And i think i am not a realy beginner, but a i am for sure not a pro!!!!

Thats where a forum is for ???
I think...

Thanks for everything you alll     :? :o

I understand your problem. Ik have a pile of hardware laying around for marktplaats. One thing I learned is that I have to do more investigation before buying hardware. ;)

You're right about the beginnersforum. There are a lot of unanswered question. But also a lot of unanswered questions are answered in a different topic.

ontopic:
you install the software following the steps on the following website: https://code.google.com/p/openhab/wiki/Setup
As far as I read you need a couple of parts to get this working:

1) the serversoftware
2) the bindings (sounds like driver for hardware) in your case the RFXcom binding. This one can be found here: https://code.google.com/p/openhab/wiki/RFXCOMBinding. I'd take the http binding as well. This can be found here: https://code.google.com/p/openhab/wiki/HttpBinding.
3) configuarion software: openhab-designer. You can find that here: https://code.google.com/p/openhab/downloads/list

steps (as mentioned in the first URL):
1) First you download everything and unzip this in the places mentioned in the first URL.
2) Then unzip the bindings in the directory you unzipped the files
3) then create a configfiles by copying the cfg file configurations/openhab_default.cfg to configurations/openhab.cfg
4) Add to this configfile the following :

Code: Select all

############################### RFXCOM Binding #########################################

# Serial port of RFXCOM interface
# Valid values are e.g. COM1 for Windows and /dev/ttyS0 or /dev/ttyUSB0 for Linux
rfxcom:serialPort=

# Set mode command for controller (optional)
# E.g. rfxcom:setMode=0D000000035300000C2F00000000
rfxcom:setMode=
add settings for you situation there as well (see: https://code.google.com/p/openhab/wiki/RFXCOMBinding)
5) copy demo.items from the configurations directory to a new filename and change to your liking. More info here: https://code.google.com/p/openhab/wiki/Setup
6) Then create a new sitemap file in the "configurations/sitemap" directory. Name this ***.sitemap where you change *** to what you want. this file tells openhab what to show you in the user interface. An example can be found in the configurations/sitemap directory. Theres an examle in that directory. More info here: https://code.google.com/p/openhab/wiki/Sitemaps
7) Launch start.bat or start.sh to start the server.
8) go to the server by typing: http://localhost:8080/openhab.app?sitemap=demo in your browser.

What I did above is following an trying to explain the steps of : https://code.google.com/p/openhab/wiki/Setup. I dont know the software, but I think they have quit a good wiki that can help you even a bit further: https://code.google.com/p/openhab/wiki/Configuration

good luck!

Yhanks for your help.
And gues what, it is working..
It have work with my RFXcom, or couple of minutes

Nice very very nice, but no thing for me.
Why, i have to type everthing in scripts.[ and with my bad englisch ]
No simple config button or some thing like that in the software, like domoticz.

It looks great with all the options that the have.. realy nice
I hope more developors from Domoticz, take a look what uptunerties they have in openhub...

I think for sure i give my time to work with Domoticz. [ and hope for a lot of developing like Hub ]
Because developing is no thing for me.

Questions???... openhub runs on my windows 8 for test..
Only not working with the RFXcom, that one i used bij domoticz
I hope i can help you with something

Nice! Just got a Raspberry Pi and would love to have Home Automation software running on that platform.
OpenHab looks very promising in terms of architecture and functionality!

I did some testing with openHAB. The framework works nice. The experiences with the bindings for my devices are mixed.
1. RFXCOM works as specified.
Using a RFXtrx433, my Kaku switches, Oregon THGR228N sensors and La Crosse TX17 thermometers are working as expected. Not everything which is supported by RFXCOM is supported by the openHAB binding. Look at the Wiki to find out.See https://code.google.com/p/openhab/wiki/Bindings
2. Plugwise still buggy.
The plugwise binding communicates with the switch, without the Plugwise Source software. The plugwise circles can be switched, but do not report power consumption. The logfile shows protocol errors for all circles. There is only support for the Stick, Circle+ and Circle. Not for Smile-P1, Stretch, Switch or Scan.
3. ZWave implentation still incomplete.
Only a few command classes are supported at the moment. For me it means that only one of the 5 devices work with openHAB. The dual switch from fibaro works fine.
