This is still a bit puzzling to me. I can understand this when the OTG is in Gateway mode. But I would not expect it in Monitor mode. To monitor is to observe, i.e. look but don't touch, right? Hence I would only expect to see 'B' and 'T' messages in monitor mode, not 'R' and 'A'. In what cases do they occur in monitor mode?hvxl wrote:The gateway is not "acting strange" when it sends messages in case no thermostat is disconnected. It is supposed to do that.

Re: Problem starting after power outage
I've 'solved' my issue by replacing the 7805 by a DC/DC converter. This allows me to run the USR-TCP232-E off the 5V of the OTG. This makes the setup stable, with everything nice in one enclosure without an extra power supply.

Re: Problem starting after power outage
You are absolutely right. It doesn't make sense for the gateway to attempt to send messages in monitor mode. I should fix that in the next firmware version.
In fact, due to the way the comparators are configured in monitor mode, the gateway probably isn't actually sending out these messages anyway. The outputs are directly coupled to the inputs, so any changes to the output ports by the firmware are presumably ineffective.

Re: Problem starting after power outage
Before I was able to upgrade the firmware by pulling the power plug when it said 'Please manually reset the OpenTherm Gateway'. However, with the new setup this does not work anymore. So I'll first need to add a reset button such that I can upgrade the firmware.
Re: Problem starting after power outage
Yes, that worked, thanks! Can you put this in otmonitor as part of the firmware upgrade?
Re: Problem starting after power outage
Hi I also have the TCP232-T installed http://en.usr.cn/download.html. It works great but I can not flash the Opentherm Gateway using this connection.
I get the following messages after starting the firmware programming:
1) Please Manually reset the OpenTherm Gateway
I remove the power and put it back in.
2) Could not switch Gateway to self-programming mode
Also giving the command 'GW=R' manually before programming does not help the process.
I like the idea of Nlrb to add the 'GW=R' command to the Opentherm Monitor, maybe it will work then. Hvxl could you add it?
Now for flashing I remove the TCP232 and use a usb cable. Flashing this way goes fine.
I prefer to flash directly by the TCP232-T any ideas or suggestions?

Re: Problem starting after power outage
What you can do is the following.
- Flash the firmware with otmonitor
- Open a telnet connection via PuTTY to the TCP232
- Once otmonitor says to reset manually type 'GW=R' (enter) in the terminal
- Ignore what you see next in the terminal
, otmonitor should continue
Re: Problem starting after power outage
Thanks Nlrb, this works. Only thing I did not know was to use the configured port instead of 23.
