Toon temperature correction

Post by Rudolf »

I quite recently mounted my Toon in the living room as my active thermostat and I have my doubts about its temperature readings.
In my opinion Toon shows high temperatures. (That or it's still very warm in the house...)

I have another temperature sensor in the living room and added another (close to Toon) temporarily and I'm trying to compare/match their measurements.

I already changed the temperature offset for Toon to -0.6, but it might need a little more (to approx -1.0).
I was wondering if you could share your offset here, so I can determine wether this is very uncommon.

When I change Toon on the wall I always calibrate it with another thermometer at the same spot.
No Toon is the same, offsets have been ranging from 0 to -1.5 in my case.
Also Toon 2 has a slightly higher offset then Toon 1 (in my sample of devices)

Have heard this issue before. Don't know how others solved it other then editing the offset.

What firmware version do you have?

For me it is firmware independent. Probably has more to do with the characteristics of the individual sensors in each Toon.
Also the airflow in your room has an impact. Putting Toon on another location in the same room might require another offset as well.

I use an offset of 0.0.
Not sure if it's entirely correct, my (analog) thermometers aren't very precise (+- 0.5 deg).

I'm at -1.
But just as Toonz said, just apply your correction as needed. Not each toon is the same. That is what the setting is for :)

Thanks for the replies. It seems that a negative offset between 0.5 and 1.0 is nothing to be ashamed of.

A bit late, but my offset is -1,1 or something like that.
At first I wondered if I already turned into an elderly person... to get a comfortable temperature in the evening I had to increase the temperature to 21.5 degrees!

Then I discovered that Eneco had used a nifty trick to save gas with Toon... :D

I also have an offset of 1.5
When my Toon is switched on after long time being switched off (Replaced boiler), the temperature was waaaaaaaaaaaay to low.
After half an hour the Toon was warmed up again and showing the correct temperature.
I also used an old fashioned thermometer next to it for half an hour and adjusted Toon accordingly.
