Fully automated rooting script

Re: Fully automated rooting script
I did use this because I already knew which bootloader I had, and becasue then it at least started writing the new firmware.
The DEBUG did not get me any more information than I posted.
But: This morning I managed to do the manual installation by running the postinstallers manually. Although they did not run both, I managed to get SSH access. Then Toon didn't start correctly (it stopped at the install-screen), but by running the autoupdate script with -f I managed to get it working and keep SSH-access.
I now only have one small problem, in that I can access the Toon through the SSH with a fixed IP, but Toon doesn't seem to know it has connection to the internet. I can see the wifi networks on the Toon, but connecting fails. At least, that's what Toon thinks...
Any ideas about that?

Re: Fully automated rooting script
Did the installation of the necessary files finish properly (with the -f option in the update script)? As your VPN is closed your Toon normally reports that internet is broken. But with our fixes we are fooling the toon to think it has internet (or better, that there is a vpn connection). Using the -f option will install those 'fixes' normally (importantly the resource files).

Re: Fully automated rooting script
Hello,
I'm trying to root my arrived toon but seem to be facing an issue.
I followed the guide (ToonRooter) but not getting really far. Searched on this forum for someone with the same issue but couldn't find it.
I am using a Pi model B (1st gen), all pins are connected to the toon.
When running the pyton command the only output I'm getting is:
INFO:__main__:Starting up...
CRITICAL:__main__:cannot import name Timeout
Does anyone have any suggestions?

Re: Fully automated rooting script
I did it again, and from my point of view everything goes well:
But: I also found that I can't install stuff from the Toonstore. I can select them, but nothing changes when I press the button in the top right corner...
So something is missing I think...?

Bart

Please check your python installation. You are probably missing some of the python installation, or running an older version.

OK, I will. But there's still the problem that everything looks OK, but Toon says there is no internet connection (while I can SSH into it)...
Is there more I can check?

Re: Fully automated rooting script
Yes, I did, all of it. Didn't help.
However, this morning I restarted Toon a few times (different reasons) and now everything seems to work!
Toon is connected to servicecenter (it thinks...) and WiFi connects in a few seconds.
Too bad I don't know why.... Maybe I'll find out later.
Thanks for your help anyway!

Re: Fully automated rooting script
Can anybody help me:
I have a Toon 1, Boot version R8. Using a FTDI usb to serial converter and connecting it to pins 11, 13 and 14, I see output in my console (Tried Minicom, Putty with the correct settings), but when I trie to paste the password, Toon boots normally. Is there something, that I oversee, or is my Toon not compatibel.....

Re: Fully automated rooting script
That should work. Most of the time it is just that your TX wire is bad. And as you are receiving RX you know that that wire is connected correctly.
Make sure your cable is good and you are indeed connecting the TX to the correct pin.

Re: Fully automated rooting script
Just to check: Tx is on pin 13? (and is Rx on de USB to Serial converter)
What else can I check?

Be sure that:whizzz63 wrote:Just to check: Tx is on pin 13? (and is Rx on de USB to Serial converter)
What else can I check?
TX from usb is RX on Toon
RX from usb is TX on Toon.

Correct. But are you pointing to the correct pin 13? And ofcourse are you sure you have the correct password in your copy/paste buffer?whizzz63 wrote:Just to check: Tx is on pin 13? (and is Rx on de USB to Serial converter)
