A toon 1 is always reporting that their is no space to install but always continues. Quby did put this check in the script but for now they only log it but don't quit.

Also, there is no way a toon 1 can get a firmware upgrade if it respect that warning message.

In fact, during the upgrade the toon itself compresses it file system all the time and for most updates there is just about enough space to install the update. Only from firmware earlier then 5, when upgraded to 5.6 or higher will cause a disk full during upgrade. Therefore, there is now a 5.0.6 intermediate update necessary for those updates.

OK thanks, that is clear and then, I will attempt to upgrade my toon 1. If I w any to create some space for applications, what are the usual locations where you can free up some space?

On a toon1 you can only install 3 or max 4 application due to memory restrictions. Way before any disk storage issue's will start.

I have reading the last pages of this topic. And i have still a question about updating my Rooted toon.

My rooted toon has 4.16 firmware at the moment and want this be updated of course. Now i have SSH access to my toon. Is it just that simple to run the script " curl -Nks https://raw.githubusercontent.com/ToonS ... -rooted.sh -o /root/update-rooted.sh " and it will go to firmware 5.0.4 and stops then and after that it will start by itself to go to the latest firmware version?

The reason of my question is that i dont have the capabilties to go serial to my toon. So only SSH. And dont want to make stupid mistakes.

Tried to update to latest firmware but failed. If I look in /mnt/data/update/upgrade-qb2.sh.log the root-error seems to be:

This also happened to my last time and after some retries finally succeeded, this time no luck after several re-tries. Are their servers overloaded or is there another root-cause??

First of all they could be overloaded but I don't think so currently.
Maybe your VPN connection (which is started when running the update-rooted script) breaks before the update has finished. Is your internet connection bad maybe?
Try to run the update-rooted.sh script with option -o
This will start the VPN and set the opkg files correct but stops there. From then you can do a manual 'opkg update' which should receive the latest package list. Also you should be able to 'ping feed.hae.int' then. If your ping fails after a few minutes then your VPN indeed breaks. If the VPN keeps running try to do the update-rooted.sh again (without -o) and it will use the already opened VPN from that point.

Thanks for your hints...

I followed your steps and the tunnel stay alive perfectly fine (I'm on a stable glass fiber internet connection, so would be surprised if not stable). Starting the script with VPN running again does retries for a long time on 'opkg_dl.download.supervisor: /tmp/opkg-9J8Irh/qt-gui_1.9691-fix-5-13-hotfixes_qb2.ipk: downloading' but finally succeeded. While the script keeps on re-trying, the VPN remains alive (tried to 'ping feed.hae.int' in a separate terminal). Strange...

Anyway, upgrade now succesfull

That's a shame. Too bad you don't know what the error was. Now you need to recover your Toon. Hopefully that will also tell a bit more why it failed.

Do you still have SSH or else connect your console cable to the inside of the toon and tell us what you see. "wont start anymore" is probably like "it doesn't start the GUI anymore".

It shows the screen of the logo when you power it up. The loading doesnt start. I cant ping it, so SSH isn't possible. I dont have a console cable so i cant root it for myself agian..

Does it only show the logo or also the loading bar below the logo? And if it does show the loading bar, how far does it go roughly?

Try to plug in a UTP cable. If you are lucky it will get an (new) IP address. Check in your router if the Toon gets an IP address. Hopefully it is only the wifi which is broken.

If not, then you are out of luck and need to send it back to the one who rooted it for you or another repair service (like me...). I will make a special price as I am also curious why the update failed.

Thanks for the tips. It's just the logo what starts on screen. No loading bar isn't on screen. I have to try with the UTP Cable.

Should i contact you by DM to discuss your offer?

If no loading bar is shown the UTP option is not working also. Just send you a DM with my offer.
