Intel ATOM 330 Dual Core 1.6 Mini-PC
I have an Asus EeePC 1000H with an N270 CPU 1.6Ghz (running Ubuntu-eee), my domotica software performs much better on this machine than on my server which is an Pentium P4 2.4Ghz.
I'm even thinking about using an Eeepc as my 'domotica server'.
Although a laptop harddrive is not made for running 24/7.

what is the power consumption of the 1000H?

I have a cheap wattmeter, which bounces between 8 and 18 watt.
(have a Plugwise start pakket ordered, but not delivered yet)
The N270 Atom uses (a little bit) less power than the N230. (the singlecore N330 brother)

Problem with this platform (and motherboard above) is not the power usage of the CPU, but the 945GC GPU is using 22 watt on its own.
You often see that this GPU chip has a cooler while the CPU doesn't need one.
I guess the power usage of the pc in this topic is 40 watts or more...
The Eeepc uses an Mobile 945GSE chipset which uses less energy.
(6 Watts)

Today I received my mini Intel Atom 330 (1M Cache, 1.60GHz Dual Core , 533 MHz FSB) 2GB memory machine.
Installed a WD Raptor 160GB 10.000rpm
installing now W2K3 64bits on the system, so far so good.
Consuming now 35 to 40 watts depending on what it's doing

Hopefully it isn't to busy most of the time [:)]

That would mean no visitors on bwired [V]

Yep; but if the Atom is to busy, those visitors won't come back anymore; what do you think avg CPU% will be? Any idea?

No clue yet
I'm still installing and that is going rather fast.
Will get back with the results, would be great if I could use this machine.
Back from 120 to 40 watts would be nice:-)

update:
installed: Windows 2003 server 64 bit, Mysql 5 64bits, IIS6
Until now the system is fast en the Bwired webserver is running good.
I see no difference with my existing system and CPU is normal.
I have good hopes that this system is powerful enough!
Power usage is now from 35 to 40 watt!
Keep you on topic!

dont forget that if you want other stuff installed on it without your own custom software, most is not 64bits compliant..

I know, but you can run 32 bits also

Right, i haven't had any 64/32 bit compatibility issues yet either.
My domotica server is on Windows 2003 x64, SQL 2005 x64, IIS6 but with x86 HA application. It's very stable for months now.
Pieter, when do you think you're going live with your new ATOM?

Next step is to install all my additional software and my HA software.
then stil some extensive testing, I guess and hope within 2 weeks.

Pieter, have you already measured power consumption of this system with the Raptor asleep? I can image it being responsible for a large chunk of the total. Power consumption with a (SLC;-) SSD drive would be interesting to know too.
Intel ATOM 330 Dual Core 1.6 Mini-PC
Not yet, I think the Western Digital Raptor will take about Max 10 watt.
The Raptor does not get many sleeps
and yes I want to replace the Raptor for an SSD drive but I still can't find any prove about it being as fast as the raptor.
Intel has announced new SSD drives which are even faster as current SSD drives and even pushing the limits of SATA 3gb.
And as I told before this mini pc (Atom) is not only for my Home Automation but is hosting the Bwired site as well.
