Last week we have done some test together with Erik.
Ping response from ziggo was faster than xs4all

After the merge casema / ziggo I had some problems
now I'm happy with ziggo...

Also TV is okay with 9 HD TV channels including NL 1-3

I have to add, with adsl it depends on how close you are towards the "kpn" hub or something, in my case in leiden i am very far away. In Schiedam i was damn close to it, in schiedam i had pings of 2/3 ms towards almost anything in .nl , which is goddamn fast. But now i have adsl too in leiden, and i get really louzy pings.. because i am too far away i can only get 8mbit and the ping times are bad. I normally had the lowest ping on gameservers hehe... :)

Is watching digital TV influencing the download/upload speeds?

Don't forget Ziggo Ip-address are not steady.
A reboot can result in a new address. (dhcp)

Background info
DHCP gives you an IP address with a lease time.
If the device with the same MAC address requests an IP address within this lease time then you will get the same IP address again.

What i did is scheduled a job in Windows with the AT command to ping www.google.com at regulair intervals within the leasetime periods. This will keep the line active. I am doing this for more then six years now and still got my IP address as if it was a fixed address.

hope this helps
Bram

its easy to keep the ip that way, i am more afraid for a power failure, router failure or whatever..

In the last year my Ip changed few times
Most of the situation was because of changes at my side..new router, request for new ip etc..
When connected to a router Ip will not change.

I use the DynDNS dynamic DNS service to access my home network. This works very good, and the router will update the DynDNS service with the new IP address once it has changed.

When I had Ziggo a couple of years ago I did not use DHCP but directly added my ipnr and other settings.
Worked very good and always the same ipnr :-)

Hi Bastiaan,
any VOIP with this?

yes I use the UPC analogue telephone service connected with an ATA interface to my voip server. Also a bunch of VOIP providers for LCR.
I used to have phone and internet in one modem but for DOCsis 3.0 they gave me a new one, now I have two and they get pretty warm. Should measure how much they draw and see if there is no otherway....

I think the faster connection is worth it. I have several servers in a Datacenter and my FTP upload is sooo nice.
When I run speedtests I usually get the full 60/6.
