It seems the answer is bit more complicated nowadays.

According to Nefit:

It seems some of their devices can be connected to an OpenTherm converter, which is available for about 60 euro.

Not sure if it will work in combination with an OpenTherm Gateway. Your mileage may vary...

i am not that great a soldier , are there "kant en klare" gateways available ? i have a nefit 2 years old with serial interface so it should be possible.

And if the conclusion is that the gateway doesn't work with your equipment, I'm sure you can make some other member (who doesn't like to solder the gateway himself) very happy with it. I think I even saw someone asking for that...
So I don't think it will be a waste to just try.

Granted. But a Nefit boiler with a Nefit thermostat like jakkes has? I give that a very low chance of using Opentherm.

I have a nefit 2 years old with serial interface so it should be possible.

The opentherm gateway doesn't have any use for a serial interface on the boiler. The serial interface on the gateway is for communicating with your PC.

i have been fighting with Nefit for years now to open up the protcol!

I am replacing my 5 year old Smartline hvac soon for a Remeha Calenta 40C

Anybody who knows a cheap address for a Remaha Calenta 40C including installation.
I now have a simular Nefit smartline HR, so replacing is not that much work
