Lantronix\CPR for 64Bit Vista

Post by laserchris »

Hi there,

has anyone had any luck getting the com port redirector to work on 64Bit Vista? I upgraded and then realised the software is only for 32bit.
Is there any other software I could use? I dont mind paying for it.

thanks

I don't know if this software is the same kind as you're looking for.
http://www.kernelpro.com/ (Advanced Virtual Comport)

I bought this software a while ago, and still using it. It's a great peace of work and doen'st cost the 'whole world' (a lott). The spec's are writting that it's supports 64bits OS, but Vista isn't in the list [:(]. I would say.. donwload the trial and ask it via email, those quys (and girls) are very helpfull with their support/product.

PS. when you're think about buying.. check the license count you'll need first, i saw at the very last moment that i need to buy 2 licences instead of the one i thought.

My 2 Cents.

Thanks Richard , that looks good. Are you currently using this product with the ethernet RFXCOM Receiver and Transmitter?

Just wondered what settings I would need.

thanks

Hi Chris,

I have a RFXCom Receiver and Transmitter connected (via USB) on my Server. This server is physically located at the attic (hobby room of mine [:)]).

Both devices are using the VCP driver from FtdiChip as recommended by RFXCom, (this creates a virtual/physicall comport) on the server i installed the Kernel Pro AVC software and configured the "Shared" ports (map them too the 'physicall' comports).

After that i install the Kernel Pro AVC software on my development laptop, and configured the "Client" ports (map them too the "Shared" ports on the server) and voila, you can communicate over the Lan/Wifi with your RFXCom devices.

The only cavecat i can think, you need to 'open' a couple of 'ports'. See the preferences screen in AVC.

If you need some more (specific) information, just let me know.

With regards,

Richard

Oops, i didn't read your posting correct. You asked if i use the "Ethernet" version of RFXCom, and the answer is shortly 'No'. So i don't know for sure if this is gonna work for you.

Chris,

Have you tested RFreceiver to connect the receiver via TCP/IP? If that operates I can try to add IP support in the RFXCOM Homeseer plug-in.

Bert that would be fantastic .. yes the RFX RFreceiver software can connect via IP address and I can see the data going past.

to integrate IP into Homeseer would be perfect!!!

would it be hard to do ?

Cheers

Not to spoil your holiday but I would be very happy too with a 64bit solution or a direct IP connection. Its the only problem I have for running it on Win Server2008/64.
Chartdirector works, RFXcom works (with adjusting the path in the .ini file) so I am just waiting for a way to connect the RFXCOM ethernet interface and I can switch to 64bit :-)
