It looks really nice, some hardware is (promised to be) supported out of the box, but I didn't back it yet.
Instead I challenged them to make the NEEO just as flexible as my 8-year old Pronto - or does evolution work the other way with remotes?

Logitech has been doing this for a couple of years already? (Harmony Hub). Granted, this looks sleeker, but Harmony One universal remote users have learned by now that a touch screen on a remote is not ideal.

My Pronto also has a touchscreen - I wouldn't use it if it didn't have one
Backed the project.

Remotes seem a bit 2008 when today everyone is holding almost all of the time a device that is capable of doing the same, like a smartphone or an ipad.

I disagree; I can control the TV with my smart phone but I still prefer a real remote.
Try to control the TV with your phone with your eyes closed; try to hit a sequence of buttons (e.g. goto channel 376, or do CH+, mute, VOL-). What's the success rate? Try the same with a real remote and you'll see what I mean.

Add to that the startup time before you can control. Even a tablet lying on the table takes to much time (IMHO). So I agree. Like this remote, am thinking of backing this kick starter.

When they make the 1.000.000,- mark they'll create an rest API. This is really good News since we than can use this device with our current software. So, if you're still not sure... I hope this will make you back!

The prospect of an API was the reason I decided to back it

Yes. Same for me. But now a real promise is made (if they make it). I'm still waiting for the api of skybell. Which they would look into after release. Well I guess we're still after release so I cannot complain ;-)
