That was the problem! i was thinking something about your router. please consider good products: zyxel, linksys , netgear.
About fixed ip: ok that's right, but take a look at prices. i don't know how much it does cost in UK, but a fixed IP could have high price , and you can do everything without it. using free dns account as you did. obviously you need a good router. with port forwarding, and dyndns managing capable (every new router has these features). Important is bandwith UPLOAD (not download!) . please consider that i did a system like yours , using dyndns free, i have an adsl with 256kb UPLOAD granted. I see live my house with 10-12 frames/sec.
