Does anybody know the Praxis FreeControl? I found them walking through the store last day. It contains several modules and its working on a frequency of 868mhz. It would be nice if it can be used with the RFXCOM Visonic receiver. There are some nice priced devices including smoke detectors.

I have seen this devices few weeks ago...will check that later this noon.
I think they use non encrypted 868.
To make this devices usable you need a receiver and a transmitter...
I don't know the frequencies well.what are the benefits for 868 is it better than 433 (Kaku, X10)

It's not specially the frequency I like this FreeControl stuff, it is the reasonable priced detectors they offer. Magnet contacts for doors and smoke detectors etc.

I was there this noon.
Components have the same size as Kaku (twice the size of xanura)
Price is about 50% higher than Kaku
They have also a alarm system in the same line. Price is same as Visonic
Door contact of Kaku have reasonable price 12,50 euro and very compact.
Size of the battery compartment is 6 x 2,8,x 1,5 cm
I'm testing one of this device.
Communication speed is very good much higher then X10
Homeseer / Rfxcom will see this device as input device.

Interesting!
Would be nice to see a complete pricelist.
Is the protocol "confirming" i.e. doe I get a confirmance after setting a switch to a state that it actually happend?
Cheers

I guess this is what Praxis is selling (in 4 languages):
http://www.free-control.de/
Freecontrol is 1-way, just like KAKU, Elro and all other products in this (price-)category. So you only have a "visual ACK" [:)]
Perhaps 868 MHz frequency is less "polluted" what makes it more reliable? I don't know... should be nice to hear more on that.

I have used it a couple of times and it was very diasappointing. Then I discovered Xcomfort from Moeller Electric. This RF system is Bidirectional, has a routing function and works GREAT and is also very easy. More info you can find at :
www.draadloosschakelen.nl.
I have done a lot of small and some bigger projects with it and i am very enthousiastic about this RF system.
