Anyone here who can give me some good info about what webcam to use for 'just above' the front door (it will be fixed outdoor)
At the place that I want to use for the cam I've got ~240V and or 12V, UTP or if needed Coax cable
I also have a Windows Media Server and a Flash Media Server setup, so if needed I could use this for the streaming part.
The webcam does not need to be able to rotate. It will only be used for looking at the front door. (for scenic streaming I have some FireWire cams)

I can still move the place to fix the webcam if needed.

Also.. Note that I will still need to fix a light :-)

Thnk you for any info on this.

I've tried some things with WMS too for a little while, but never been able to get rid of the ~10 seconds delay caused by the buffering (haven't tried really hard though[;)])

When there's someone in front of your door, i would imagine you'd want a live feed instead of this delay...just my 0,02 on the software-side of it.

About the ~10 sec. delay.
You are correct on this, but that is if you use the Windows Media Encoder in PULL mode (pull the stream from it)
When you use it in PUSH mode, and push the stream to WMS the delay is way less (about 1 sec)
The quality, FPS and PC used (memory, CPU) to encode the stream does also make a lot of difference.
Better quality and more FPS, will take more power from the PC running WME.

I'm using Netcam Plugin for Homeseer.
Netcam is triggered via Homeseer to make some pictures.
Live streams is only available on my Pronto Pro.
This can be any camera with Jpeg mode.
Almost all the Ip cameras has this option..only problem you have to find is the Jpeg url.
For my IP camera i can't find this option..

Chak. Thank you for your input.
All I need now is a make/model that will survive outside.

Buy a CCD cam with low lux, no IR light and auto white balance, like below and mount it on the far corner of your portal ceiling. Look also for a camera with a wide angle otherwise the distance is to short and you won't get the desired image. I have a portal in front of my door as well but that one is a lot bigger http://www.bwired.nl/Camdoor.asp The camera picture will get better but now there is like 30 meter cable in between and the camera streams goes over UTP cable as well.
