What motion sensors?

Hi. It's me again who needs some advice again.
The system here is getting better with the day, and now I would like to start adding some motion sensors.
All on / off and dimming is done with Xanura's SAIX / DAIX 12's, all controlled with HomeSeer, a Rfxcom Receiver and (for now) a ABX1.
As the places that I would like to fix sensors also have extra light switches or power outlets, I would like to replace the switch or power outlet with a sensor.
All switches in the house are around 1 meter from the floor. Could this be a problem?
Also. I would like to use the power from the "removed switch / power outlet" to power the sensor. Can this be done?
Last but not least. I would like to have a 'nice' looking sensor. So nothing big or with (in case of wireless) a big antenna.
Any suggestions are welcome.

Jung have nice sensors Price is also very nice...you need to connect this to the SAIX12
MS13 is easy to use but not that nice...or Kaku AWST-6000

Hi Chak,
Do you maybe have a link to the Jung sensor?
Why do you think that the MS13 is not that nice? Are you talking about looks or usability?
I like the possibility to use it outdoor.
The AWST-6000 does also look nice, but runs on battery's (or am I misreading this?)
Will both units work with HomeSeer?

Hi both, do you is there a way to trigger a sc-9000 (x10 alarm central) with these motion sensor? I know that they can't, but tech-News are always welcome in my automated home! have a good day.

On the ms13 you normally have a ugly antenna or a piece of cable hanging out of it. Might be replaced with something else though but the kaku looks nice, thats about the same idea as the jung (only jung has a bigger area of effect) but then you need the jung, which is expensive + a saix12, so that would make a 8 room house about 8x 100 euro perhaps? a bit steep.

battery is not a problem.
most of the senors works with batteries.
Lifetime of the batteries is between 1-3 years
You can also use security sensors.
Like Visonic or Marmitke versions.
The problem with this sensors is that they have slow response and will not send the off command.
mostly they trigger once in few minutes, also no direct communication...your HS system most be online all the time.
The best choice is to go for sensors with batteries.
MS3 will trigger without need of HS for the Kaku you need Rfxcom if you are going to trigger none kaku devices.

Once again thank you for the info.
I think that I'll go for the Kaku's AWST-6000 in combination of HomeSeer and RFXcom.
Do I still need some kind of driver to make this work with HomeSeer?

You can better test it first before buying lot of sensors.
With events you can trigger your lights..there is no need for extra drivers or other hardware.
With Doomotion plugin you can make it complete. This plug in is bit complex to start with.
best place for buying Kaku devices is at the moment Karwei.

Wifi,
The AWST-6000 works OK in combination with RFXCOM and homeseer for switching on the lamp on the "overloop" when going upstairs.
It's just stick on the stairs with double sided glue tape.
The AWST-6000 is put on a delay of 5 seconds, so after 5 seconds it sends the off command, but it's not used.
The ON command triggers a script "overloop_via_trap.vb" and a delayed command of 3 minutes for switching off the lamp.
The trigger may not retrigger in 10 seconds because the ASWT-6000 sends a burst of ON commands.
For explanation of the KAKU devicevalue see

@DMB
Why are you using a script for just turning on the light?

Chak,
Because there is not a real ON or OFF (2 or 3 value) in the devicevalue.
It's the same as with the AMST-606 (e.g. value 9 for OFF and 249 for ON).
When you know the value in the devicevalue for ON and OFF it's also possible to test on these values in the event, but I prefer the script.
The light is a XANURA DAIX10 and not a KAKU device.

thanks..i'm not so in scripts.
here some examples how to do it in events or Doomotion
When you use Doomotion there is no need for events extra.

Chak,
That's a good solution if you know the values.
By the way, something off topic.
Several years ago I played with doomotion in homeseer 1.6 and could not get it good to work with the MS13's.
Is it worth a new test? I am using 3 AIX12 with external motionsensors, 3 visionic motionsensor, 2 MS13's and one AWST6000 now.

I'am trying out doomotion with homeseer now, and a ms13.. but so far most problems are with x10 itself, but besides that all is working. I'am still using the old way, where i turn on the lights, create a delayed action to turn of the lights after 15 min. When motion is detected again i do the same which resets the time before it turns off again. So if no motion then it turns of after 15 min.

@DMB
Since few weeks I'm using Doomotion.
Application is still in development..but it's working fine at the moment.
I have 5 Visonic sensors in Doomotion...also all the kaku sensors.
Nice thing about Doomotion is the occupancy sensor. You can connect all the sensors you have to this option. HS will know when you are home.
Doomotion will reduce the number of events.
I above example of Garagedeur I need two events for tuning the lights on/off
I doomotion you don't need any.
Garagedeur is a simple kaku door sensor AMST-606 (13 euro)
