Domoticz does not recognize Evohome HGI80 device(s)

After some experimenting I managed to get the Evohome HGI80 recognized on a Mac Mini Server (OS X 10.11.1 - El Capitan) which runs my Domoticz server. However, once the HGI80 has been set-up as Hardware in Domoticz I consistently get the following error messages (both with original Texas Instruments supplied binary driver as well as a recompiled driver):
I'm running Domoticz version 2.3562 (hash code 63a634d). The HGI80 is defined as hardware of type Evohome USB (for HGI/S80).
