Control electric floorheating -> crazy idea?

Hi,
I have a plieger electric floorheating system in one of the rooms in my house. This is basically a long wire which runs in a loop on a thin mat under the floor tiles, both ends come to a control module. A temperature sensor is also under the tiles and it is also connected to the control module.
The control module contains a scheduler and I can determine at what times I would like to turn up the heat and which temperature. It works like a charm.
Now I was wondering if I could do the same with a SAX1, a 1-wire sensor and homeseer/mcstemperture instead of the control module.
Is it possible or should I not even try?
