You can find your firmware version in the menu under software.
The most recent versions of rooted toons include a TSC (toon software collective menu) with a 'check update' button. This will check if there is a new firmware available and then would let you start that update.
Under water it just starts the firmware update for rooted toons script (https://github.com/ToonSoftwareCollective/update-rooted) which you could run manually yourself also ofcourse.
