How calculates Domoticz temperature ?

It turns out that Domoticz keeps temperature measurements per 5 minutes. You can decrease to 1 minute using a hack on the configuration page.
In my case temperature is measured on a per 10 second basis using an ESP8266 and send to Domoticz.
Question: How does Domoticz calculate the temperature that Domoticz is storing in its database, given that a lot more measurements have been send to Domoticz ?
