Hooking up a Wiegand card reader to a Networx NX-8E

It looks like the NX-8E has a 3-wire serial bus (is that Caddx?), a DATA/+/- set. Wiegand card readers seem to have several wires, but minimum DATA0/DATA1/+/-.
It would seem that the protocols of the two are not the same, and electrically you can't just (say) plug in DATA0 into the NX-8E's DATA wire. That being said, I can't imagine that others haven't tried hooking up a Wiegand reader on to an NX-8E system especially since the NX-1700E series readers are no longer produced?
Is there a way to hook up a Wiegand reader or is that hopeless on an 8E?
