i would rather see interfacing possibilities like RFXCOM does with their plug-ins for domotica software. Not another powered box.

usb uses less then another powered box, but i will assume they will create 2 options..

I agree. I wouldn't like to add another plugwise-controlled box. I'd rather like them to provide linux drivers for the 'stick' or open up the protocol so that I can integrate it into my own home automation application.

And with online you mean the plug is in use when the device (cable in the socket) needs power? Or does it also participate in the mesh network when the socket device is 'killed' and be online?

The socket is offline when you switched it off but still in the zigbee network so you can switch it on again.
I like network device much more then for example USB devices, What you see is that most of the members on this forum now use serial to network Adapters to make all their devices TCP-IP enabled. A small Linuxbox should not consume more power then 4 watt. Look at the HCB which only consumes 5 watt and is a complete domotica controller. Does not Matter from which operating system you control it and also independent running unlike USB.
On the other hand If you have a small dedicated Domotica server like the HCB you can easily plugin the USB stick
So also depends on your setting.

There is nothing wrong with a network device (compared to a USB device), as long as they don't try to make a HCB-like full-fledge automation solution (i.e. should not try to replace the PC or HCB). If they make a device that allows the plugwise zigbee network to be accessed over TCP/IP that would be perfect. But if they try to make a fully integrated, closed home control solution, then it will likely lack flexibility to add other stuff (such as RFXCOM, X10, etc) and play around with. This of course takes away all the fun.

Agree on that, I think plugwise will try to extend the product. There will also be a user friendly webpage for easy controlling for normal users
As long as they keep the connectivity open (unlike HCB) it's alright for me.

I did not know the Stretch lite.
It's a USB to Ethernet controller so not the real thing [:)]
But it's easy to place the USB stick somewhere else.

I would for sure consider buying a set if it's HS2 controlable and readable. (Preferably through RFXcom tranceiver)
The above messages don't really clear it up for me if this will be the case in the future.

With the RFXcom receiver it is not possible, 2.4 ghz.
Chak and I told Plugwise several times to make a Homeseer plugin. I know they are investigating it. Plugwise is very busy right now developing new software, so it will probably take some time, hopefully it will come for the Homeseer users.

I hope that the Homeseer plugin will be available end of this year.

I spoke today to some people at Plugwise. They told me they think about making a plug-in for HS. Well thinking isn't good enough. Keep on calling and mailing to the guys.

I will make my first step to Domotica and order the Start Pakket from Plugwise. [:D]
