Axis 207W

Post by TANE »

Since few weeks I have a new Axis 207W
quality of this camera is very good.

I like also to use this camera in the dark.
There are no IR leds on this cam.
I found a link on the net that someone has added IR led.
http://www.jasonmacpherson.com/adding-n ... y-monitor/

This is simple...but will not work because of the built in IR filter.
I have tested this and is not usable.

any idea how to remove the IR filter?

I have send few messages to the owner of the link..no response..:(

Just checked with my 207 by pointing a remote control at it in the dark and it clearly shows the LED's.
Meaning there is no IR filter. (would make it very expensive)
Did you test your one?
I have seen several IR lights with a couple of IR LED's in a circle.

Test I have done is using the IR leds of my other camera and point both to the same corner.
207w will show nothing...just to dark.
there is some kind of filter I have also seen this on some other sites
also some special lens for Ir

I know the IR filters from DSLR and Movie DataCamera's. Usually it is a small piece of glass, just in front of the chip. (we call it a 'low-pass' filter.)
Did you take of the lens already?
Your link shows an IR filter housing to hide the camera, they also mention a special IR lens, thats sounds strange to me but it could mean they 'damped' the IR filter straight on the coating of the standard lens. Never heard that it was possible...
So check one: take the lens of and check for any glass in front of the chip. If none, shine your TV remote on the chip and see if it brightens up, then do the same with the lens mounted and you should get all the answers :-)
