Intel ATOM 330 Dual Core 1.6 Mini-PC
Update:
I have a Vscom USB 8 port Rs232 external adapter.
I tried to install this device on Intel Atom but no luck. It is using windows 2003 server, all the same as on my Dell Precision T3400.
So I guess it must be hardware related?
It looks like the driver is installing the right way, but I'm not getting any extra rs232 ports.
It just stays with com1, I see a lot of extra usb ports popping up in the devicemanager but no rs232.
Thats a real setback for me, I have still like 6 devices on direct rs232 and a lot on ethernet/rs232.
Until I figured this out no Low power Intel Atom webserver for Bwired. [V]

Pieter,
I had same problem time ago.
after upgrading the USB to serial driver problem was solved.
in my case it was FTDI driver..the windows driver did not work well

What do you mean, use the small installer?
yes I did. I tried everything, removing updating etc everything.
I still have a PCI 8 port rs232 card and that worked right away without installing extra drivers.
With this card the ATOM 330 is now at 40 watts incl the 10.000 rpm drive.
so until now on -80 watt, still building though

Today I replaced my Dell T3400 Quad core for a very small INTEL ATOM 330 1.6GHZ Dualcore machine.
And still this new machine is remarkable fast!
Total usage of the Bwired Home automation Webserver is now 48 Watt an hour.
This is a reduction of 72 watt per hour, total 630kW per year.
The new Intel Atom 330 is running Windows 2003 server and has the following Software:
Windows Server 2003, Mysql, IIS6, office, outlook, AVG server, and all of my Bwired Home automation software
hardware:
Specialix 8x rs232 pci card
2x rfxcom usb
2GB Memory
1-wire Controller
10.000 rpm Western digital Raptor harddisk
Plugwise dongle
1 Extra usb sounddongle
2 silents vents

So that was you on the lights
It took me a while to make it all complete, until now I'm very satisfied with the result, performance and specially the reduction.

Pieter,
To make it even more green, you should give all your served webpages a black background!
This way the person accessing the pages will also use less power
