Xanura problems

I am an early adopter of Xanura, therefor I got a lot of old modules. I have since the beginning weird problems in my home, one of the reasons the x10 project is not completely finished.

I got some new modules to replace the old ones, hoping to solve some weird/random X10 behavior. This behavior is quite random, mostly the X10 stuff works great for weeks/months, lately some modules do not respond on X10 'on' or 'off' signals. I thought it was related to some very old modules. This period is not related to introducing new electrical equipment which might cause interference. I hardly change anything.

Project lets change modules starts:
After replacing the first module, still the same problems. One of the units is not responding to X10 signals from homeseer however it responds to signals from the RF interface. Other units (same room, same fuse (groep)) have less problems (not fault proof)

Trying to isolate the problem by unplugging device, I discovered the following. Unplugging my audiovisual components the problems disappear. Ok this issue is not new that's why i installed a filtermodule (AFX2). Rotating the AFX2 by 180 degrees (it contains a single coil) give some relief, mr problem module works fine however when i turn on my plasma, "on" signals are 'randomly' processed, "off" works flawless.

Removing or not using my audiovisual stuff is NOT an option :) however I am bit fuzzy right now, the stuff is filtered, nothing special or old stuff, just a pioneer plasma, jvc HTC, Humax PVR and hardly used Windows Media Center. There are two other AFX2's in my home filtering some computer equipment.

Any experience with this kind randomly behavior?

my house is 'protected' by an SFX40, only one phase (fase).

wifi had something similar where he had a plugwise near his ctx35. You dont happen to have a similar setup, or some other strange device near your ctx35 righ? (assuming your using a ctx35) you can always try seeking it out with a pmix35, assuming you have the time/money for it (and depends on how much you really want it solved)

I am not using the ctx35 as an interface. In the early days it was controlled by a Xanura CIX, this setup is replaced by a dedicated PC with homeseer, the X10 signals are processed by an Applied Digital device called "Ocelot". This equipment is on a dedicated part of the electrical system. (own circuitbreaker, no other devices etc)

-breaker-|-220- X-10 -serial-|
*______*|-220-filter-----computer

I still use my old CIX for sniffing purposes, signals are distributed through my home without problems... Perhaps these devices are less picky when it comes down to signal quality. The problem unit/location will change its state to "on" after an longer burst of X10 commands.

Still having problems, its 100% reproduceable. Plasma on problem with module(s) Plasma off no problems. I am a bit confused what to do next, The complete AV set is behind an AFX2 module and should not interfere with my modules.

Any other solutions to isolate these components (ie. other filters)?
Is it possible the filterunit (contains a coil) became 'lazy' (Dutch: verzadigd)

Nb. Plasma 50" pioneer screen, 2 years old.

Check if you don't have an interfering wall ward (=plug-in power adapter) somewhere in your house. I had one that got so bad that it even prevented a unit to obey its local switch (http://www.domoticaforum.eu/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=397).

These things are usually very cheap, not well-designed and produce a lot of rubbish on your net. Especially when they're at the point of breaking down. Good luck!

I had the same problem.
When plasma was on I had problems with some of my Xanura unit's
When of no problem at all.
For me the FM10 - Storingsfilter plugin fixed it.

@wifi,

The problem is: The AV set which includes the Plasma has a filter module (AFX2 is xanura filtermodule) I am familair with the FM10, got 2 of them for my computer equipment. So, How to tackle interference when a filter is installed..
