What i don't understand is: as thin client it NEEDS ABSOLUTELY a windows-server edition to work? or more simply, it can login like a normal pc, trough the lan to a pc (win2k , or XP or vista) running Homeseer server?

Maybe it is better to Google on RDP than trying to explain RDP here.
Ok, very short: RDP stands for Remote Desktop Protocol.
Windows XP and Vista have the RDP-client onboard out of the box and it is available as download for older Windows OS-es.

With the RDP client you can connect to machines that offer Terminal Services: W2K8, W2K3, W2K, XPP, Vista. With a RDP connection it feels much like you are physically working on the console of that machine, but you aren't.

The rest you can read here: ;-)
