My idea is to make a zone-controlled floor heating. At this time I don't have the time to build and design this but since we will start to put in the concrete floors and my idea is to put some ds18S20 in at this time. What I need is a cheap interface to test each of the devices before I put the concrete on top of it.
My idea was to juse the lowcost DS9490. Could anybody tell me if this is a good idea and where I can buy it online in the Netherlands.

Conrad used to have DS18S20.
I always ordered my 1-Wire at http://www.hobbyboards.com or 'samples' at http://www.maxim-ic.com.

Met een hele simpele schakeling kun je ze al testen zie:

Daar moet je helaas wel iets voor solderen, maar moeilijk is het echt niet.

I asked display to order me one together with 10 ds18s20.
The asked 102,80 euro for the DS9490 only............
I think I better order one in the US.

Heubie, when we got a new floor with floor heating I put these gray colored "slagvaste PVC" tubes through the floor at the centre of each loop.
Just bend a piece of tube 90 degrees, close one end with tape, stick the uncovered part through the floor and fix the other part to the floor like the heating tubes.
Later you can guide the DS18S20 into the tube from below the floor (kruipruimte).
I would not just bury sensors into the concrete without the possibility to change them if required!
Bought 50 x DS18B20 for $70 including shipping on eBay last week.
My intention is to be able to control the floor heating zones individually as well...

Hi,

Does this work just putting the ds1820 in the tube, how accurate does this measure the concrete/floor temp ?

US ebay is indeed the cheapest for DS18B20 sensors. $18 for 10 incl shipping.

Also I found a USB controller USB9097 for $16 inc shipping on ebay http://cgi.ebay.com/1-wire-adapter-/220 ... 3363de152d

I have ordered it and I am waiting to receive it....

This site is not very cheap but very interesting for 1-wire. Specially for home-brewers.
