Wired X10 motion sensor

Post by Jfn »

I am looking for a wired X10 motion-sensor (for outdoor use). You have the MS13 motion sensor, but it uses RF-signals to transmit commands to an X10 tranceiver. And it needs batteries too.

I need a sensor that connects directly to the powerlines and that behaves the exact same way as the MS13 (Detect motion --> send A1 ON command and after a certain amount of time send the OFF command).

Does anyone know of the existance of such a thing? I did not find one yet (I considered a Visonic motion sensor, but it lacks some of the functionality of the MS13 and it is not suitable for outdoor use).

You could use again a MS13 without batteries , but with 2 wires (+12v) coming from a switch (12v/220v) connected where now batteries are connected. RF transmission is a problem because of " short range" ? If so, you'd use an IP66 plastic box (outdoor use) where comes 220v line, in the box you put a Transceiver tm13 for RF and the switch that continuosly powers up the MS13.

I am considering using the SM10 X-10 transmitter in combination with a motion sensor suitable for outside use. The SM10 is available at less than half the price of a SAIX12 (I do not need the 2-way capability of the SAIX12 anyway).

Will pay a visit to the local DIY shop tonight to look for a 220V motion sensor.
