Okay.
As you all might know I gave away my Plugs (other storry)
Last week I was in Scotland, and wanted to start using the plugs at a "friends" house.
Problem is that they do not have internet, and do not want internet either. They use the PC for games (freecell, Solitaire), writing letters and some other none internet related things. (I did have internet on my laptop with my GPRS settings)
Anyway. After installing Source (from USB stick) I wanted to start using it.
Forget it!! Source will not %^&!@#^*@!^ install if you do not have internet on the PC!
I should have know as I asked this some time ago, but due to I guess jet leg (well ferry leg) I forgot this!
End of Plugwise project in Scotland.

I do not think that there is a "no internet" version as this (plugs data) is one of the things (the company) needs.
So. For now it's also a no go for your grand parents.

one of my points on the "list of improvements" for plugwise was to fix that during install, because it didn't tell me clear enough that you need it.. almost makes you want to sniff it out, and just adjust the hosts file on the machine to mimic it

When you install it on a computer with internet, and after the installation and activation, you make a backup file (with the option in the software).
With the backup file and setup.exe (free download still...) you can install it on a machine without internet. After installation, the configuration wizard start. Skip this, go to Start-Programs-Plugwise-Backup & Restore and restore the file.
Voila, the Source works.
The backupfile include all plugs, license and activation code....

I am just a domotica member at the moment, so I don't care right now

But yes, of course Plugwise cares, but it is a solution and it works. When you care about the benefit/continuity of Plugwise just donate a (extra) gift to compensate the lack of data.

So, the police will be at wifi's door then? I mean, just listen to what you are saying...
Either you provide help to fix the issue that wifi is having, and as you're a representative of Plugwise we expect this to be in line with the official company policy. Or you don't provide help and just say that that's not an option. But please don't give us the "yes you can but you can't" BS. We've seen this a little too much lately. I don't think I have to recall the "yes, you have a checkbox that prevents sending personal data but no, you're not allowed to actually checkmark the checkbox"-thingy here. Oop, now I did

This is totally BS indeed. If you don't have a solution, just don't say anything.
