Displaying custom texts on iSense remote through OpenTherm?

Hi,

I have been reading about the brave efforts to reverse engineer the opentherm protocol. Is there any chance that the protocol contains a datagram to display a text on my iSense remote? I would like it to show things like 'You have 2 voicemails' and 'Frank turns 20 tomorrow'.

I own a Remeha Calenta heater with the beautiful and very practical Remeha iSense. They communicate with OpenTherm 3. I have no desire to control the temperature other then directly on the iSense.

I contacted Remeha but they simply say that is not possible.

Regards,
Erik.

As far is I know the iSense can display only pre-programmed messages like it needs a service overhaul ( 3 different types) or that the water pressure is low etc.

But Ill look in to it, if I can find anything I'll let you know.

P.s.
If you'd like to do such things it'll be necessary that you make a transparent OT gateway which can be used to inject OT messages.
The gateway has to buffer the messages en put them trough two ways

Sjoukes,

That would be awesome. Thanks!

I believe the Remeha OT gateway meets these requirements.

Just thought of one option: perhaps it is possible to remotely change the installer and force display of that information.

Erik,

unfortunately I wasn't able to find any info regarding sending custom messages to the iSense thermostat.
Also, at this moment OpenTherm hasnt got a reserved ID for this kind of feature.
All messages which are shown by the iSense are pre programmed in the thermostat and are activated by the boiler when it toggle's a certain bit in a specific OT message.
