RFXMeter / RFXPulse + reflective-optical sensor testing

Guys,
I want to verify my newly configured eflective-optical sensor works correctly (before sticking it to my gas meter). The cable is connected, the led light is on (red).

I've tried using a little mirror, and then seeing if the RFreceiver program shows any difference. However every 30 seconds it keeps on showing value "12". No increase at all.

Am I doing something wrong here?

(It does display rfxpwr module - but I'm guessing this is normal? :))

In the rfxmeter I've have also the rfxpwr module, which I assume it working correctly. It keeps on adding some values every 30 seconds.

The LED on the RFXPulse should only be on if the mirror is in front of the sensor. I guess you have to adjust both the LED voltage and sensitivity to a lower level.

The RFXMeter value (12 in this case) indicates the pulse counter.

I've followed the procedure described here: http://www.domoticaforum.eu/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=2831 . No luck however :(. I always end up with the LED being turned on, and as soon as I remove the white paper/mirror it does not go off.

Any tips?

If it matters, the debounce time is set to the default 30ms: JP3 closed, JP4 open.

Is the LED Off when you remove the sensor from the RFXPulse?

The LED should be off when you set LED voltage to the lowest level (turn CCW) and Trigger level set to the highest level (turn CW)

the led is (was) off when led voltage min'ed and trigger level max'ed.

Weird, it seems to be working now. All I did was taking a (40 minute) break and then reconnecting the sensor jack. For future reference, should the sensor be plugged out and in again after adjusting the led voltage and trigger level?

It is not necessary to unplug the sensor.
