I recently read about another very cool feature of the XBee modules, called I/O line passing.

2 (or more?) XBee modules can act as an invisible, virtual wire: you can set Digital/Analog Output pins on XBee #1 to 'mirror' the Digital/Analog Input pin values from the XBee #2. Without any additional hardware...

A wireless light switch based on XBee, that would be really cool...

Even more cooler and a lot cheaper in my opinion are JeeNodes.

All new recent development, and still going.

You need a little bit more soldering / electronics skill.

You can also control remote ports with RF12 and Ports libraries.
You can use them to build sensor modules with PIR, LDR, Temp, Humid, Pulse capability.

First project; I'm looking into the possibility of hooking up an old NMEA GPS module to it, so it reports where my car is parked over RF to my house, and work on integration with DomotiGa.
