How do I use the BSX1 (MS13) motion detector properly?

Post by markv »

Hello,

Motion detectors seem to be a lot of fun, but I can't find
some good uses for it. It's OK for the frontdoor light to
switch on at dusk or swith when entering the door.

But using it in a room never worked for me. When I place one
in the toilet the light switches ON. But I (and visitors) have
the habit of turning it OFF with the light switch. As soon as
you close the door when leaving the light will go on again.
Can't find to manage it with Active Home Pro? Aaaaaaaaarch!

Same with the bathroom. When you lay still in the bathtub the
light switches OFF.

BWired seem to use motion detectors for energy saving. But what
are the DEFINITIONS programmed to do so? I use Xanura now for
remote controlled switching and scenes in the living room. But
realy automate give a lot of irritating problems...

You are right, there are still no perfect Motion sensors available for domotica, specially combined with a Dark/Light sensor.
I use the MS13 only for putting lights off, so no movement in room X for X minutes (bwired setting = 10) and the light is ON the light will be turned off. I'm not using this for turning the lights on because X10 is to slow for that.

Oke, and thats always working?
Never watching TV and the lights turning off?

I'am also in doubt if X10 is realy a good enough
product for a domotica system. A lot of people are
complaining in this forum. A lot of broken Xanura
modules etcetera.

But it's one of the only products that can be installed
in an existing installation en there is a lot you can
find compatible with it. But do I put moning in TOYS???

What are you planning to do? Stil put money in this are
switching to another brand/protocol???

For me Xanura is working perfect, once you have a good setup with filters etc.
I don't switch lights off in the livingroom automatically all the time, these lights stay on even I'm not at home (security)
Only after 00:00 it will check for presence or not and then switch of after 30 minutes.

Longer timers should work!

I watched the X10 videos on the internet and all look so fancy.
But in real live is not working that good. Better make things
run on the background...

In the last three years I did not have one defect module, but
some are saying they have up to 4 or 5 broken a year? I spend
quite some money on the modules en puls switches. So I'am a
bit disappointed that XanuraHome is discontinnued by Eaton [V]!
Happy to see you have confidence [:)]!
