Is anyone using the USB receiver and the USB Xmitter (in a second interface housing) succesfully together, with the handshake cable in between?

If so, how is the handshake cable connected?
Do I need so solder it directly to the boards (the handshake document mentions the JP6 connector which is only a row of holes in the interface board[:(] ) ?
Or is a more practical approach possible?
I would very much like to do this withOUT soldering something to the board myself!

You have to solder the 3 wires as described in http://www.rfxcom.com/documents/Handshake.pdf

Would it be OK to wire the PCB contact points to a stereo-jack-plug in the housing and then connect the two housings with a modular cable with plugs?
Or is the cable length /type critical?

You can use a stereo jack connection. Use a screened cable with the screen connected to JP6-14 (ground) and a maximum length of about 50cm.
